ABOUT DAVID ARINZE
David Arinze is an Off-Grid Energy Expert and an Electrical Engineer who is passionate about increasing electricity access to deprived climes through relevant energy sources. His Electricity Supply Industry experience revolves around Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Off-Grid Energy. He has significant experience supporting donor agencies and development organizations such as the United States African Development Foundation (USADF), All On and The Rockefeller Foundation conducting due diligence and screening of off-grid energy applicants before project funding. He provides technical assistance to USADF’s $8 million off-grid energy portfolio comprising several off-grid energy projects which include; Mini-grids for rural electrification, solar-powered cold storage solutions, Solar-powered drying solutions, solar kiosks, solar milling solutions, biogas rural electrification, biomass rural electrification. These projects have generated about 2MW off-grid electricity and created over 10,000 connections, affecting over 8000 households, 2000 businesses and 400,000 people across 22 states in the six (6) geo-political zones in Nigeria. He provides technical assistance in form of fiduciary support, grants management, project monitoring and evaluation support, remediation support, technological support and the facilitation of access to follow-on financing to early and mid-stage renewable energy companies.
He speaks the three (3) major languages in Nigeria and has vast experience implementing mini-grid projects in unserved and underserved climes. He is a registered engineer with IEEE, COREN, and NSE amongst others. He is a thought leader on accelerating energy access through clean energy (SDG7) and has spoken at various local and international conferences such as COP26 - Glasgow, UK, Global Clean Energy Action Forum (GCE AF) - Pittsburgh, US, SEforAll Forum - Kigali, Rwanda, UN General Assembly - New York, US amongst others. He has won multiple awards and is also a Certified Energy Transformation Expert by the Renewable Academy (RENAC) in Berlin, Germany. He is A Bridge Fellow of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and a member of the Power Thematic Working Group where he continues to support the government on policy issues. Through his engagements at the NESG is contributed to the Development of the Nigeria Development Plan (NDP) 2021-2025 and the Revised Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB). He holds a patent for zero-emissions tricycles for commercial transportation. He remains a leading voice in the African energy space with his work and contributions appearing on International and national media platforms such as BBC, Aljazeera, Channels Television, AIT, NTA, UNTV, Business Day, The Cable and many more.
